Trailing drawdown calculator

See exactly where your drawdown floor sits after each day — end-of-day, intraday or static — when it locks, and how much room you have left. Load a firm’s published rule or type your own.

Drawdown floor, day by day

Load a firm’s published rule or type your own, then enter each day’s P&L. Best and worst open P&L are optional — they matter for intraday floors and for a loss that touched the floor mid-session.

How the floor moves

Moves on the closing balance, once a day.

Want the floor tracked on your real account?

MAV is a trading journal for prop-firm traders. Add your evaluation or funded account and the firm’s published rule prefills — drawdown, type and lock point — then the floor and the room left update from the trades you sync or import, without retyping a day. Read-only: MAV never places a trade.

Three floors, three stopping points

“Trailing drawdown” hides two separate questions. The first is when the floor moves. Of the 2,074 plans with a drawdown rule in MAV’s public rulebook, 1,379 trail at the end of the day, 451 trail intraday and 244 are static. The second is where it stops: 692 lock at exactly the starting balance, 497 at start + $100, and 597 never stop. (Rulebook as checked August 22, 2026 to October 6, 2026.)

  • End-of-day trailing — The floor recalculates once, from the closing balance. Open profit during the day does not move it — but a loss that touches it mid-session still counts on most firms’ terms. Which firms publish it
  • Intraday trailing — The floor follows the highest balance while you trade, open profit included. A winner that gives back its gains can raise the floor and then reach it. Which firms publish it
  • Static — A fixed floor from day one. Profit never moves it, so every dollar made is extra room. Which firms publish it

Trailing drawdown — frequently asked

How does a trailing drawdown work?

The floor sits a fixed distance below the highest balance your account has reached. When the account makes a new high, the floor rises by the same amount; when it falls back, the floor stays where it was. On a $50,000 account with a $2,000 trailing drawdown, a new high of $51,000 moves the floor from $48,000 to $49,000.

What is the difference between end-of-day and intraday trailing drawdown?

When the high is measured. An end-of-day floor only moves on your closing balance, once a day. An intraday floor follows your highest balance while you are still in a trade, including open profit — so a trade that runs up and comes back can raise the floor without being closed in profit.

When does a trailing drawdown stop trailing?

It depends on the plan. Of the 2,074 published plans in MAV’s rulebook with a drawdown rule, 692 lock at exactly the starting balance, 497 lock at start + $100, and 597 never stop trailing. Once locked, the floor stays put however high the balance goes.

How do I calculate my trailing drawdown floor?

Floor = highest balance − drawdown, but never higher than the lock point. With a $2,000 drawdown that locks at start + $100 on a $50,000 account, the floor follows your high until the high reaches $52,100; from then on it is frozen at $50,100. The calculator above does this day by day.

Can I hit the drawdown floor during the day on an end-of-day account?

On most firms’ terms, yes. End-of-day describes when the floor MOVES, not when it is enforced: a loss that touches the current floor mid-session usually counts. That is why the calculator takes each day’s worst open P&L as well as the close.

Is this trailing drawdown calculator free?

Yes, and there is no login. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere — it runs in your browser. The firm presets are each firm’s published rule with the date it was checked; edit any number that differs from your own agreement.
